DALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Muskegon County sheriff’s officials are investigating a homicide after skeletal remains were found in a burned-out vehicle.
The burned vehicle was found Saturday off a two-track near the intersection of E. Lakewood and Russell Roads in Dalton Township, just southeast of the village of Lakewood Club.
The sheriff’s office said the remains were in the trunk.
Investigators went to the Montague home of the vehicle’s registered owner, where they say they found another crime scene.
Neighbors told 24 Hour News 8 they saw a large police presence at a home in the area of Water Street and Walsh Road, but police wouldn’t confirm that’s the house linked to the case.
The sheriff’s office hasn’t said who was killed, but did say that person was specifically tageted.
Deputies are being assisted by the Montague Police Department and Michigan State Police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 231.724.6658 or Silent Observer at 231.722.7463.
