WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A second death at a third scene in Muskegon County has been linked to the weekend discovery of a body in a burned-out car.
Antonio Wiggers, who went by “Tone,” was found dead at the Rodeway Inn on East Colby Street near US-31 just outside of Whitehall, multiple sources confirmed to 24 Hour News 8. Check-in was Saturday night, and motel staff discovered his body after checkout at 11 a.m. Sunday.
It’s not yet clear how he died.
On Saturday, a body was found in the trunk of a burned vehicle parked along a two-track just southeast of the village of Lakewood Club, about five miles from the hotel.
The deceased person has not been identified. Investigators say the body was burned so badly that only bones remained.
That car was registered to someone who lives at a home on Water Street near Walsh Road in Montague, where police say they found another crime scene.
State records show Wiggers also lived at that home, but 24 Hour News 8 has learned that the owner of the car is alive.
The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, Montague police and Michigan State Police are all working the case. They have not announced any arrests.
