HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police are identifying a mother killed in a Van Buren County crash that they say also injured her two children.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. on County Road 687 at 66th Avenue in Hartford Township, west of Paw Paw.
Michigan State Police say 68-year-old Deborah Baier of Watervliet was driving east on 66th Avenue, didn’t stop for a stop sign at the intersection and collided with the semi-truck.
Baier died at the scene. Troopers say her two children were taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where they were treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, according to MSP.
Troopers do not believe alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
