REYNOLDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Howard City man was airlifted to the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle when trying to help a family member who slid off the road.
It happened shortly before 5:50 a.m. Monday on southbound US-131 near exit 120 in Reynolds Township, near Howard City.
The 42-year-old man was out of his vehicle when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Howard City woman. She was driving southbound when she lost control, hitting the victim and his vehicle, according to a Michigan State Police news release.
The man was airlifted to the hospital with “significant” injuries, the release said. The 17-year-old woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
State police believe weather may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
