Deputy hurt during arrest in Edmore

EDMORE, Mich. (WOOD) — A deputy was injured while authorities worked to arrest a man in Edmore Wednesday afternoon.  

Montcalm County Sheriff Mike Williams said it happened around 4 p.m. as his department executed a felony warrant, though he did not specify the charges involved. He also didn’t say how the deputy was injured, but said the deputy was taken to the hospital and had been released as of Wednesday evening.

Video sent to 24 Hour News 8 shows a man on the roof of a home as emergency responders blocked off the street. The man is later seen falling off the roof, after which officers converged on him.

The sheriff said the suspect was not hospitalized.

The sheriff did not specify precisely what charges the suspect faces, but said he would likely be arraigned Thursday.

The sheriff said more information would be released Thursday.
