FREE SOIL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is in the Mason County Jail after allegedly stabbing his brother multiple times and punching a deputy in the head.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office says around 12:21 p.m. Saturday, deputies were called to the 8200 block of N. Custer Road in Free Soil Township, about 20 miles northeast of Ludington.

Deputies arrived to find the suspect outside the home and the 72-year-old victim inside, suffering from multiple stab wounds to an arm and a leg. An ambulance took the victim to a hospital with injuries investigators say are serious but not life-threatening.

Authorities say the suspect was taken into custody after he allegedly punched a deputy in the side of the head during the investigation.

Authorities are withholding his name until he’s formally charged in the case.
