GARFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Howard City man was killed when his car collided with a garbage truck west of Newaygo Monday morning.
The crash happened around 9:40 a.m. on S. Bingham Avenue near W. 80th Street in Garfield Township.
The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office says the northbound car crossed the centerline and hit the southbound truck head-on.
The driver of the car, a 30-year-old man, died at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
The driver of the garbage truck, a 45-year-old Muskegon man, and his passenger, a 63-year-old, weren’t hurt.
A stretch of Bingham Avenue was shut down while emergency responders were on the scene.
