ROMULUS, Mich. (WOOD) — Winter weather grounded all flights at Detroit Metropolitan Airport Tuesday evening.

Blaming snow and ice, the Federal Aviation Administration said the airport closed at 8 p.m. It was expected to reopen at 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Passengers can check the status of their flight on the airport’s website.

At Gerald R. Ford International Airport near Grand Rapids, some flights from Chicago O’Hare International Airport were canceled Tuesday evening, as was a flight to Detroit. Most arriving flights, however, were running on schedule.
