FRANKFORT, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are identifying the two people aboard a plane that went missing while flying over Lake Michigan Sunday night.
Emanuel Manos, a 53-year-old man from Monroe, and 65-year-old Randal Dippold of Perry were on a red and white plane that left from Ontonagon in the Upper Peninsula and was headed to Monroe.
Officials say the single-engine plane went missing between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. west of Frankfort. The aircraft had stalled and wouldn’t restart. It was directed to the Frankfort Dow Memorial Airport at the advice of the Minneapolis Control Center due to the situation, authorities said.
Investigators note they do not know which man was flying at the time it went missing.
Authorities are continuing to search for the plane on land and water.
Officials note they are considering the search to be a recovery mission.
