GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Recreational marijuana is expected to become officially legal in Michigan in early December.
The Michigan Board of State Canvassers is scheduled to meet on Monday, Nov. 26 when it is expected to certify the vote on Proposal 1, according to Michigan Secretary of State spokesman Fred Woodhams.
If that certification happens, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs spokesman David Harns says the new law will go into effect 10 days later on Thursday, Dec. 6.
Proposal 1 passed with 56 percent of Michigan voters in support of the measure during the November midterm election.
