DETROIT, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Humane Society announced Friday that former lab beagles are now up for adoption.
Those interested in adoption can visit the MHS’s website to complete an application before 8 p.m. Sunday. After that, team members will begin to review applications.
Because of the high volume of applications, the MHS says it can only accept online applications for now.
The MHS is encouraging aspiring dog-owners to have patience and dedicate enough time to properly train the beagle. Training could last several months.
The Humane Society of the United States released undercover video in March showing the dogs being used in toxicity testing at Charles River Laboratories in Mattawan. The animal protection group said the tests resulted in the deaths of many of the dogs. The next week, the company running the testing said it was ended when regulators from Brazil stopped requiring it.
