UNDATED (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids man is among three suspects facing charges in the 2002 death of a man whose body was found in Ottawa County, the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office confirms.
The victim’s remains were found near Grand Haven in May 2002, but it wasn’t until 2015 that they were identified as that of 35-year-old Robert Caraballo of Charlotte.
The Lansing State Journal reported Wednesday that Eaton County prosecutors are charging three people with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and mutilation of a dead body.
Prosecutors named the suspects as 40-year-old Christopher McMillan, 58-year-old Beverly McCallum and 38-year-old Dineane Ducharme. The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office said McMillan is from Grand Rapids and has been jailed in Eaton County. The other two are being extradited from Texas.
The Eaton County sheriff has scheduled a press conference on the investigation for Thursday afternoon.
