Fremont school principal accused of sex crime

Michigan

FREMONT, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are investigating a principal with Fremont Public Schools who is accused of a sex crime.

Michigan State Police say an employee filed a criminal sexual conduct complaint against the administrator Monday.

Fremont Public Schools Superintendent Ken Haggart said the incident involved a principal and school social worker. OnThursday, 24 Hour News 8 confirmed with the district that Pathfinders Elementary School Principal Andrea Wood is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The complaint involved allegations that Wood was using her position of power to jeopardize the social worker’s employment.

In a Thursday letter (PDF) to parents, Haggart said the incident didn’t involve any students and happened outside of school hours.

Detectives with MSP are not elaborating on the circumstances surrounding the case, but the district does not believe that anything criminal occurred.
