Excavator smashes into Detroit liquor store, booze taken

DETROIT (AP) — An excavator was used to break into a Detroit liquor store.

Police tell WDIV-TV that someone fired up the heavy machinery and smashed the front wall of the JR Party Store Sunday morning.

Several bottles of liquor were stolen. Police say the break-in occurred at 5:22 a.m.

WDIV reports that the damage to the building comes to about $150,000 and another $75,000 in high-end scotch was destroyed. The excavator is worth about $200,000.
