GARFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Three people were arrested Tuesday after leading authorities on a chase through Newaygo County.
Officers responded to a report of a retail fraud at a Fremont Duhnams around 4 p.m. Tuesday. While on the way there, officers saw the suspect vehicle, which was stolen out of Grand Rapids, and attempted to stop it.
At that point, the driver attempted to drive away and were chased by Fremont police and Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The suspect crashed into a sheriff’s office patrol car before the chase ended on a dead end road in Garfield Township near the Muskegon River.
Two people were immediately arrested after the pursuit. A third person fled on foot, but was tracked down by a K-9 unit.
One deputy and one of the suspects were taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries and have since been released.
