Man ID’d in single-vehicle crash in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was taken to hospital after single-vehicle crash in Grand Rapids Friday night, where he later died.

It happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Plainfield Avenue and Marywood Drive NE, according to a news release from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Police say 53-year-old F. Michael Pargiello was heading southbound on Plainfield Avenue when he veered off the road and struck a utility pole near the intersection.

Pargiello was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The release said speed was not a factor in the crash, but it is unknown if alcohol was involved.

The cause of death is unknown. The investigation remains open until an autopsy report is completed, according to a Tuesday news release from Grand Rapids Police Department.
