GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The new glass building behind Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids now has occupants.
Law firm Miller Johnson moved its 170 employees into new offices in the top four floors of Arena Place, located at 55 Ottawa Avenue SW.
Miller Johnson was formerly housed in a building on Calder Plaza, which is less than a block from the county courthouse and just across the square from the federal building. Monday, lawyers said the great view of downtown Grand Rapids from their new offices makes up for the longer trip to court.

But it’s the technology and new work space that seem to have everyone most excited.
“I know that businesses everywhere are looking to drive engagement. It can affect retention. The design elements of this space, which are to be welcoming, drive those things,” said Nate Plantinga of Miller Johnson.
Miller Johnson’s grand opening is just the first of many planned in the next few weeks at Arena Place. The Wheelhouse, a restaurant, is holding its first event later this week. Other businesses are also preparing to open.
Apartments at Arena Place will be ready by the end of June.
