KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The man who family suspected in a Kalamazoo Township woman’s murder stabbed himself to death after police in Kentucky made contact with him.

It happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday in Cumberland County in southern Kentucky, according to a new release from the Kalamazoo Township Police Department.

Cumberland County deputies reported when that they contacted Christopher Deshun Long, he stabbed himself repeatedly with a knife. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police say Long, 43, was wanted by KTPD on a warrant for a sex offender registration violation.

Family and friends of Wendy Whitney, who was found dead in her Kalamazoo Township driveway on Feb. 29, told police they believe Long was a suspect in her death.
