SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested Saturday evening after opening fire and chasing another driver in a road rage incident.

Authorities say deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8 p.m. to reports of a vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old Battle Creek man, shooting at and chasing after another vehicle in the area of Goguac Street near N. 21st Street, about two miles west of Battle Creek.

The suspect was found near the area of the incident shortly after deputies were given a description. He was then taken into custody at the Calhoun County Jail for charges of assault with intent to murder and various weapon charges.

Further investigation showed that the drivers were in dispute over a traffic violation, causing the road rage related incident.

No one was injured during the altercation.
