SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say two young men, ages 17 and 19, face charges after trying to cash a stolen check in Springfield.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the suspects tried to cash the stolen check Tuesday at the Kalcee Credit Union on Dickman Road. The suspects left before deputies arrived, but they were found nearby.
The sheriff’s office said investigators soon realized the checks had been stolen during a series of larcenies from cars around Schoolcraft. They also linked the two suspects to other uses of stolen checks around Kalamazoo.
The suspects, both from the Battle Creek area, are being held in Calhoun County. Police in Schoolcraft and Kalamazoo are looking into adding larceny charges.
