KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo is putting the finishing touches on a two-year, multimillion dollar renovation.
At the Maple Street YMCA Monday, officials took time to show off the final piece of the capital campaign: a new pool. The replacement for the former small warm pool, it features a zero-depth area for babies and toddlers, a ramp for easier access and more natural light and ventilation.
David Morgan the CEO of the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo, said the new pool will support the organization’s mission to serve the community.
“We started looking at one of our core functions, swim lessons, and our work around healthy living and making sure people are healthy, the pool is just a great way for us to do that,” he said.
The new pool opened Monday and programs have already started.
