PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Portage police are looking for the two men who shoved their way into an apartment and robbed the people inside at gunpoint.
It happened around 6:20 p.m. Friday at Mallard Cove Apartments near the intersection of W. Milham Avenue and Oakland Drive.
The victims, two men and a woman, told the Portage Department of Public Safety that they answered a buzz at the door, thinking it was a friend. When one of them opened the door, the two robbers rushed him and pushed him back inside. One of the robbers threatened the victims with a silver handgun and demanded money.
The other robber put a small amount of cash, video games and a PlayStation in his black backpack, and the thieves took off. Police brought in a dog to try to find them, but they got away.
No one was hurt.
The suspects were described as two black males. The one carrying the gun was described as between the ages of 18 and 25, standing about 5-foot-7 with a “skinny” or “basketball” build. He was wearing blue jeans and a light-colored hooded sweatshirt. He was also wearing medical examination gloves.
The other, who was carrying the backpack, was described as between the ages of 30 and 40 and standing between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-1. The victims estimated he weighed between 180 and 200 pounds and said he had a “gut.” He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, red sweatpants and a dark-colored bandana over his face.
