PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Burglars cut through the walls of adjoining businesses to get into a jewelry store in Portage, police say.
The break-in was at the Medawar Jewelers on S. Westnedge Avenue, north of Milham Avenue. The Portage Department of Public Safety says it happened sometime between Saturday evening and when they were called at 1:40 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the burglars forced their way into one of the businesses in the same building as the jewelry shop, then cut through two walls to get to the Medawar.
They were targeting the safe. It’s unclear what they got away with.
Police are still looking for the people responsible, but did not provide suspect descriptions Sunday night.
