KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo police are asking for the public’s help to find a person of interest related to a house fire that left one person dead.

Anyone who knows where Melissa Sue Morgan, 32, may be is asked to call the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269.488.8911 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100. She has been spotted in several places in Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties.

The fire broke out before 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Wallace Avenue north of East Michigan Avenue. Responding firefighters knew someone may be in the house, but it was too dangerous for them to try to go in. The body of Zachariah Hayes, 31, originally of Iron Mountain, was found in the home once the flames were out.

On Monday, authorities said the fire had been deemed suspicious, though they didn’t say why.
