COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle Sunday morning.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Gull Road and Gull Run Drive near the Walgreens in Comstock Township. 

Sheriff’s deputies say a 74-year-old man from Kalamazoo was hit and then run over while he was walking with his wife.

Authorities say several witnesses to the crash, including an off-duty medical professional, helped the man before first responders arrived. 

Deputies say the 74-year-old was taken to Borgess Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. 

The vehicle was driven by a 27-year-old man who was also from Kalamazoo.
