One injured after shots were fired in Kzoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say one person is injured after shots were fired in Kalamazoo.

Officers were called around 12:50 p.m. Saturday to the area of Lake and Mills Streets after someone reported shots were fired.

At first, officers say they couldn’t find any suspects or victims in the area.

But a couple of minutes later, a 57-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Police say his injuries are non-life threatening.

Authorities say the man told them the shooting happened at a business in the area.

Officers were able to get a physical description of the suspect based on witnesses and security footage.

Officials described the suspect as a black man, who is about 30 years old. He was wearing work boots, blue jeans and a jean jacket with several colorful patches sewn on, according to a news release.
