BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A police officer shot and killed an aggressive dog in Battle Creek Monday morning.
It happened around 8 a.m. in the area of Illinois Street and Lathrop Avenue. Officers were called to the scene on a report of two aggressive dogs.
The caller told authorities she had been bitten by the dogs. She said the dogs then ran off towards kids at a bus stop, according to a Battle Creek Police Department news release.
The caller received minor injuries, the release said.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the two dogs attacking another dog in a backyard. The dogs ran off then were tracked to another backyard in the neighbor, according to BCPD.
As an officer walked in the backyard, police said one of the pit bulls charged him. The officers shot at the dogs, killing one. The other dog was rounded up by its owner but was later taken by police.
The owner was cited in the incident.
