BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Investigators says a car fire that also damaged a Battle Creek home was intentionally set.
Shortly after 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, crews were called to a home on Capital Avenue/M-66 near East Avenue N.
The battalion chief was the first to arrive and found a 2007 Mercedes in flames in a driveway between two homes. Crews quickly squelched the flames, but the vehicle was already extensively damaged and heat from the fire had melted the vinyl siding on one home.
The Battle Creek Fire Department says the owner’s security camera showed someone lighting the vehicle on fire.
Authorities have not released a description of the suspect. The incident is under investigation.
