PAVILION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities have identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Kalamazoo County.

It happened around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Pavilion Estates Mobile Home community, southeast of Kalamazoo. Authorities were called to the scene by the park manager to remove two people who were in a vehicle on the property.

Upon arrival, officers found 48-year-old David Teneyuque of Kalamazoo in possession of a handgun. After about one hour of negotiation with him, Teneyuque pointed the handgun in the directions of the officers on scene and was shot by several officers.

He was immediately taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he was pronounced dead.

After the incident, 35-year-old Chrystal Courtney was arrested on outstanding warrants with charges of third-degree retail fraud and possession of methamphetamine.

The officers who discharged their weapons are on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated, which is standard protocol.
