CLARENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was flown to the hospital after crashing his car into a tree early Saturday morning.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the 23-year-old man from Tekonsha was westbound on T Drive South, about five miles east of I-69, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree just after 2 a.m.

The man was the only person in the vehicle.

Firefighters from the Tekonsha Fire Department freed the man from his vehicle and then had him airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. His condition was not known later Saturday.

The man was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol is believed to be a factor, authorities said.
