KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo man was arrested Tuesday on several drug charges.

Over the last several weeks, authorities noticed a spike in heroin-related overdoses and began an investigation. During the investigation, officers identified a 23-year-old Kalamazoo man as the supplier of the drug in the area.

On Tuesday, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team arrested the suspect after he conducted a heroin transaction and executed a search warrant in an apartment in the 1300 block of Concord Place Drive.

During their search, investigators found a large amount of suspected heroin, marijuana, a large amount of cash and other evidence relating to the heroin overdoses. The man was arrested on charges of delivery of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin and maintaining a drug house.
