KDPS: Man arrested after 1 injured in shooting

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say they have arrested a man accused of shooting and wounding another man in Kalamazoo Saturday.

The shooting happened around 4 a.m. on Mabel Street west o N. Westnedge Avenue.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says its officers, who were called there for a report of a fight, found a 26-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to the head and was also hit in the face with a handgun. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition was stable as of Sunday.

Police say they soon identified the suspect as a 29-year-old Kalamazoo man and sent officers to patrol areas where he was known to spend time. The suspect was found and arrested without incident around 8 p.m. Saturday.

The suspect, whose name wasn’t released Sunday pending arraignment, faces felony assault and weapons charges.
