KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says a 21-year-old man has been arrested after forcing his way into a home and stealing things.

KDPS says that shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to State Street near Reed Avenue after the man got into the home, threatened the people inside with a gun and ran off with stolen items.

Investigators were eventually led to a home on Cameron Street north of E. Stockbridge Avenue, where the man was holed up. Because he was believed to be armed, officers called in Kalamazoo Metro SWAT to help get him out. He was ultimately found inside and arrested.

Police also say they found the gun used in the home invasion.

The man, whose name wasn’t released, was locked up at the Kalamazoo County Jail on numerous charges, though a Sunday release didn’t list them.
