KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Some Kalamazoo residents who’ve had to boil their water over the past two days can now start using it straight from the tap.
Kalamazoo officials lifted its precautionary boil water advisory at 4:30 p.m. Friday, after testing showed the water is safe to drink.
The advisory affected the following locations:
- The east side of S. Westnedge Avenue from Garland to Whitcomb streets, including the northeast corner of Westnedge and Garland;The west side of S. Westnedge from Whitcomb to Whites Road;
- Both sides of S. Park Street from Fairview Avenue to Garland, including the southwest corner of Park and Garland and excluding the southwest corner of Park and Fairview;
- Both sides of Garland from Westnedge to South Rose Street, excluding the northwest corner of Garland and Rose.
Kalamazoo officials issued the advisory as a precaution after a water main break. Water main breaks can cause a drop in pressure, which allows bacteria to enter the system.
