KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Phone calls from scammers posing as police officers and sheriff’s deputies are popping up in Kalamazoo County.
The Kalamazoo Township Police Department and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office say they’ve taken recent complaints about callers claiming to be from their agencies. The scammers ask for money and personal information and threaten to arrest the victim if they don’t cooperate.
Authorities are reminding residents that no law enforcement agency in Kalamazoo County would ever ask for personal information over the phone, especially financial details.
