PAVILION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person is dead after a car crossed into their lane, hitting the victim’s vehicle head on.
It happened around 6:20 p.m. Thursday on S. 36th Street south of OP Avenue in Pavilion Township, southeast of Kalamazoo.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says a black Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north on 36th Street when it veered over the center line, colliding head-on with a silver Toyota Rav 4.
Firefighters had to free the driver of the Rav 4, who later died. The driver of the Jetta was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, according to investigators.
Authorities temporarily shut down a section of OP Avenue following the crash, which is under investigation.
