Kalamazoo and Battle Creek

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo County sheriff’s officials have released surveillance photos of a man who allegedly assaulted employees and a customer at the Oshtemo Township Meijer on Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to the store at 6660 West Main Street near North 9th Street around 1:30 a.m. in reference to shots fired.

Deputies say once at the scene, they discovered the suspect had allegedly committed the assaults while trying to leave the store after committing fraud.

The customer who was assaulted was armed and shot at the suspect, defending himself and the employees.

Authorities say the suspect then fled the store in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction.

Authorities do not believe anyone was injured in this incident as the suspect was not hit by gunfire and the assault victims declined medical treatment.

The suspect is described by police as a black man, of unknown age, approximately 5’8″,  and skinny. He was last seen wearing a greenish gray sweater, gray sweatpants, and a green ball cap.
