ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the owner of a bullet-riddled vehicle found in a rest area near US-131.
The sheriff’s office says it found the red Kia Soul around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at a rest area near D Avenue in Alamo Township, northwest of Kalamazoo.
The vehicle had several bullet holes in it, but no one was inside it. Kalamazoo County Undersheriff James VanDyken called it a “suspicious occurrence.” Authorities said they believe the vehicle was shot in a different location and was left at the rest area.
“We’re talking to the owners as to who should have had the vehicle, where they would have been and what the situation was,” Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said. “It’s going to be a lengthy process. We can tell from our conversations — we’ll likely find out little, but we’re trying to figure out who all could have been involved.”
No shell casings were found at the scene.
