BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Minutes after the ball dropped, a southwest Michigan family welcomed the first baby of the new year at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

Daylen Albert Wilson was born at 12:06 a.m. weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces. His parents are Mallorie Densmore of Hastings and David Turner of Battle Creek.

Turner said he considers his son’s New Year’s Day birth as a sign of a positive beginning to the new year and his son’s life.

In Kalamazoo, Eleanor Lynn Behymer was born at 12:10 a.m. weighing 8 pounds, 5 ounces to Joshua and Meghan Behymer of Kalamazoo.

The family said they were planning a quiet New Year’s Eve at home, but Eleanor had other plans. The baby made her entrance less than 30 minutes after they arrived at Bronson in Kalamazoo.
