KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman died during a 10K race through Kalamazoo Sunday, a Borgess Run organizer confirms.
Blaine Lam with the Borgess 10K said the participant had run about three-quarters of a mile when she suffered some sort of medical emergency. Lam confirmed medical staff took the woman to a nearby hospital where she died.
Medical staff said the woman was 76 years old. Her name hasn’t been released.
Nearly 900 people registered to run the Borgess Run 10K on Sunday. This was the 40th year for the event, which also includes the Kalamazoo Marathon, Borgess Half Marathon, Borgess 5K and Priority Health 5K walk.
