KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Days after a water main break, health officials are lifting a boil water advisory for part of a Kalamazoo neighborhood, including for a correctional facility.
Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department said bacteria testing for the water show it is safe to drink.
The advisory issued Monday included Fenimore Avenue between Dearborn and Charles avenues on both sides of the street, and at the southwest corner of Chicago Avenue and Kenilworth Avenue, including the Kalamazoo Probation Enhancement Program building.
There is also a boil water advisory in effect along Homecrest Avenue between Pasadena and Cameron streets in southeast Kalamazoo. That advisory, issued Sunday, is also the result of a water main break.
Water main breaks cause a drop in pressure, which can allow bacteria to enter the system.
