BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly shooting his neighbor following a drunken fight.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. in the 100 block of Greenwood Avenue, east of Kendall Street N. The Battle Creek Police Department says officers arrived there to find a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The victim told police that he and his neighbor got into an argument while fishing and drinking together. When they got home, the victim said, they started drinking and arguing again and it escalated to a physical fight.

After the fight, the victim said, he began walking back to his house. At that point, the suspect went into his house, got a gun and shot the victim.

The suspect, also 50, was arrested without incident.

The victim’s injuries were minor. He was taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital to be treated.
