SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who stole a vehicle from a Calhoun County dealership.

Authorities were called around 6:28 a.m. Tuesday to Sunshine Toyota, located at 1355 W Dickman Rd., to investigate a burglary and car theft.

A man entered through the building’s rear service door and stole a vehicle that was waiting a repair, authorities said.

Around 9 a.m., the vehicle was stopped while traveling on I-94 near Helmer Road, and a 31-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested for outstanding warrants and possession of the stolen vehicle. However, investigators determined the vehicle had been traded to the Battle Creek man by the suspect in exchange for narcotics.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office at 269.781.0880 or Silent Observer at 269.781.9700.
