Authorities find driver after deadly hit-and-run near Kzoo

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities have released the name of an Allegan man who was hit and killed while crossing a road near Kalamazoo on Dec. 8.

Edward Howell Jr., 45, of Allegan, was in the 3800 block of S. 9th Street in Oshtemo Township when he was hit around 11:10 p.m. He died at an area hospital.

On Monday, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies, while acting on a tip, found the Pontiac Torrent suspected to be involved in the incident, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. The next day, they interviewed a 21-year-old Kalamazoo woman who admitted to driving the SUV the night Howell was killed. 

Further information, including the woman’s name, wasn’t immediately released.
