OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are looking for the man who apparently staged a sale so he could rob someone near Kalamazoo.

The robbery happened around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Evergreen South Apartment Complex along S. 11th Street north of Parkview Avenue in Oshtemo Township.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said the victim went to the complex to buy a cellphone that had been advertised on social media. When the victim got there, the so-called seller pulled a handgun and stole the victim’s cash.

The victim wasn’t hurt.

The robber took off on foot. The sheriff’s office called in a dog to try to track him, but he wasn’t found.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned black man in his 20s. He stands about 5-foot-10 and weighs around 200 pounds. He was wearing a black Nike hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored sweatpants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 269.383.8748 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
