KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo shooting survivor Abbie Kopf will have to undergo surgery again after getting an infection.

Abbie, 14, underwent surgery on May 13 to replace part of her skull. During the operation, doctors inserted a plastic plate to reshape the piece of Abbie’s skull that doctors were forced to remove after she was shot in the head.

According to Abbie Kopf’s Recovery Facebook page, the 14-year-old has an infection on one of her incisions. It is currently being treated with antibiotics, but the skin around it is too tight. As a result, Abbie will have to go into surgery beginning next week.

The post goes on to read that Abbie’s pet pig named Hamlet is also being put to sleep because his front legs are no longer working which is causing intense pain.

“When it rains, it pours,” ends the Facebook post.

Abbie was the youngest victim in the Feb. 20 shooting rampage which left six others dead and another woman seriously injured. Jason Dalton is facing 16 criminal charges in the shooting.
