COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was critically injured in a fiery car crash near Kalamazoo Thursday.
It happened around 4 p.m. in the 7200 block of E. H Avenue near N. 28th Street in Comstock Township. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says it looks like a driver fell asleep, crossed the centerline and hit a tree.
Authorities say the crash was discovered by a passing firefighter. The car was on fire and its driver trapped inside.
Fellow firefighters were able to free the driver and put out the fire.
The driver, a 36-year-old Kalamazoo man, was hospitalized with critical injuries.
