COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office suspects a break-in in Comstock Township may be linked to similar crimes in other nearby communities.

Around 5:20 a.m. on New Year’s Day, deputies responded to an alarm at CD Lawn Maintenance & Supply, located at 8786 East K Ave. in Comstock Township, west of Galesburg.

The sheriff’s office says it took two people into custody.

On Wednesday, charges of breaking and entering, resisting and obstructing and possession of a controlled substance were issued against Nikolas Shreve, 26, of Kalamazoo.

Prosecutors did not charge the second person.

Deputies warn there may have been similar break-ins at businesses in the East Michigan, Comstock and Galesburg areas. Anyone who discovers evidence of such crimes is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 269.343.8748 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
