WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are investigating after a call from police in Virginia led them to a mobile home fire in Wyoming Monday evening.

It happened around 7 p.m. in the 2600 block of Kitchener Street in Ferrand Estates mobile home park, which is off of 44th Street between Ivanrest and Byron Center avenues.

Wyoming officers say a police department in Virginia alerted them to a call they took about someone being injured in the home. While checking out the address, Wyoming public safety officers spotted the fire.

Kent County dispatchers said the fire started in a bedroom.

A male resident who walked out of the burning home was briefly detained as officers searched the place. They found no one inside.

The resident was taken to a local hospital for observation.

The incident remains under investigation.
