GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The United Parcel Service says it will be hiring hundreds of seasonal workers in the Grand Rapids area to handle its holiday rush.
The shipping service announced the hiring spree Tuesday. UPS plans to add 100,000 seasonal jobs nationwide to handle the bustling shipping season. In the Grand Rapids area, UPS is looking for 100 package handlers and 300 driver-helpers for the holidays.
To help fill the positions, UPS will host a job fair Monday, Nov. 12. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its facility at 5757 Clyde Park Ave. in Wyoming. Applications are available online on UPS’ website.
UPS says seasonal positions serve as a “foot in the door” to a career at the company. UPS says in the past three years, 35 percent of seasonal package handlers its hired were given a permanent job.
